How to Pack for Your Pet's Stay at the Lodge
(Without Packing the Kitchen Sink!)
Hey friends!
We get it—packing for your pet's overnight stay can feel like prepping your toddler for summer camp. What if they get cold? What if they miss their favorite toy? Do they need four kinds of treats? Will they judge me if I pack matching bandanas? (Answer: never.)
At Creekside Pet Lodge, our goal is to make your pet's stay as cozy and fun as possible—and that starts with smart, simple packing. So whether you're a checklist-lover or a last-minute crammer, we've got you covered. Here's our complete guide to packing for your pup or kitty's vacation with us, along with some helpful tips, reminders, and smile-worthy suggestions.
The Essentials: What to Bring
Food
Keeping your pet on their regular diet helps avoid tummy troubles. Bring just enough for their stay, plus a little extra in case of delays. Ziplocks, pre-filled daily meal containers, or bins all work great!
Medications (if needed)
If your pet takes any medication, bring it clearly labeled with instructions. We'll make sure doses are given on time with lots of love (and maybe a bit of peanut butter).
Leash & Collar (with ID tag)
Even if they arrive by car, we'll need a leash for safe transitions. And having a tag with your contact info is always a good idea.
Bedding or Blanket (optional but encouraged)
Something that smells like home can really help ease nerves—think a favorite blanket or small bed.
Favorite Toy (1 or 2 only, please!)
Whether it’s a squeaky squirrel, tennis ball, or stuffed taco, a familiar toy gives your pet a little extra comfort during downtime. But let’s not pack the whole toy chest.
Optional (but adorable)
A note from you!
Sounds silly, but we've seen pets cuddle up with their human's t-shirt or a handwritten note in the past. (Okay, maybe they can't read, but they know it's from you.)
Matching Bandanas or Collars
We LOVE a coordinated look. If you're feeling extra, pack a cute accessory and select a photo package so we can snap some photos during their stay.
Treats
We keep treats on hand, but if your pet has dietary needs or a special bedtime snack, feel free to send a small stash labeled with their name.
What NOT to Bring
Giant bags of food or multiple beds (space is limited, and we want your pet to feel cozy, not crowded)
Rawhide treats or anything that might pose a choking hazard
Glass containers
High-value items you’d be heartbroken to lose (We’re careful, but toys have a way of mysteriously disappearing during tug-of-war.)
Packing for Cats
Yes, our feline guests get the royal treatment too! For cat stays, we recommend bringing:
Your cat’s preferred food (wet and/or dry)
Any medications
A small blanket or towel from home
A toy or two they love
Optional: their favorite scratching pad or cozy perch (if it fits in the condo)
We provide litter, dishes, and cat-safe cleaning products, so no need to haul the whole condo!
Bonus Tips from the Hulls
Label Everything
Seriously, if you want to see that toy or tupperware again, put your pet’s name on it!
Think Routine
In your pet’s profile, include everything about your pet’s normal routine (meal times, medications, bedtime habits). The more we know, the more we can keep things familiar.
We’ll Take It from Here
Once they’re dropped off and settled in, we’ve got it! We’ll keep you updated, send pics if you opt for the photo package, and give them lots of love.
Final Thoughts
Packing for your pet doesn’t have to be stressful. With just a few well-labeled essentials and a touch of home, your pup or kitty will feel safe, seen, and spoiled at Creekside. We promise to treat them like family—because to us, they already are.
So grab that toy, tuck in that blanket, and get ready for tail wags and happy meows.
We can’t wait to welcome your furry family to the lodge!
Yours Truly,
The Hulls of Creekside Pet Lodge🐾
